Hi all,
Looking for easy DIY options for installing a shade for my solar inverter and batteries.
The width between wall and fence is appx 1 meter.
Looking for options which still keep system clear and place clear for wind to cool down the system.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @akv. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about creating shade.
You could certainly create a custom frame with brackets on the wall and sheet it with polycarbonate roofing. Alternatively, what about an Altamonte tinted canopy? That would likely be the simplest solution in providing shade to the area, whilst still allowing airflow.
Perhaps even one of these shadecloth awnings could be fitted above the unit and brought out to the fence line.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mitchell
Hi @akv,
Like yours, there have been many questions here about how to shade/protect/hide solar inverter and batteries.
Looking at your system I am proposing there is no need to do anything, very little sun and well protected.
Cheers
@akv these are designed to completely out in sun. But yours is in a much better spot. I would leave it that way it is
Good Evening @akv
The location of your batteries and inverter is a resonable shady spot that provides a throughafare for a breeze. I cant make out what the warnings? are on the wall but would contact the manufactures to see if its wise before installing anything around or over them.
Even if they say you can I am of the thinking its wiser not to cover them up overall. They have been manufactured for the Australian heat, been installed to code so really shgould be safe and stable as they are.
