Apologies for the spam

Hi all,


A number of our Bunnings Workshop online community members received a spam message from fake accounts on Saturday morning. Once this was brought to our attention we took immediate steps to ban the spam accounts.  

  

We sincerely apologise to our community members that were affected and we are working to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

 

Please do not click on the links contained in the message. 

 

If you are ever concerned about content on the site, please don't hesitate to use the Report Inappropriate Content link to get in touch with our moderation team. We're here to help.

@zool3,

 

Once you open the message, by clicking on the message subject line, you'll be presented with options in the bottom right-hand corner. It sounds like you've gone into your private messages but haven't opened the actual message to see the options.

Here's a spammer not already mentioned.

 

Glad this thread was started because it wasn't clear how to report spam to the moderators.

Yep that was the spammer/scammer. All part of the same bunch.

 

Apologies that you got one of the PMs

 

The team has dealt with it, and no-one should be getting spam Private Messages in future.

Hi all,

 

Many thanks to all our wonderful community members who reached out during the week and reported receiving a spam message. 

 

Just wanted to update you all that we've made a number of significant changes to ensure that this incident does not happen again. We're also working on more.

 

You'll notice that the Private Messenging capability on the site has a new look and feel, and we've made changes behind the scenes to ensure only trusted users can send messages to you. You might also like to turn off the private messenging capability if you wish, or change your email notification settings. You can do so in the My Settings section.  

 

Please don't hesitate to reach out anytime if you have any questions or concerns.
