Floating shelves

Wanted to make our study room just like the below with floating shelves and table but no idea where to start. Never done any DIY before so an advice or tips are really appreciated. Could I buy these from bunnings? I had a look before and the one I'm seeing are all quite short.

Here's some inspiration for you @mazasonic. I'll also tag the members as they might want to give you some tips about how to get started on your project.

Re: Floating Shelves

I can find the light duty brackets at the big green shed.

Still classed as light duty but will hold 22kg

Will hold 55kg

They are all similar to fit with the eception of the strongest holding one that takes an extra hole in the wall.

If you have a stud wall you need to be able to find the studs to fix the brackets.

You need to cut a rebate in the back of the shelf so the bracket is hidden and the shelf sits flush.

Getting the 2 holes drilled square for the support rods is critical to get a good result, for me that would be using my drill press.

Short video to show how easy it is for an expert to do...

we sell a huge amount of Floating shelving, and they are probably the most simple shelving to install, go in and have a look at the range, they can be fitted to all types of materials with ease and look great

Re: Floating Shelves

Any recommendations on the type of wood to get or what to considers?

Re: Floating Shelves

I recently did some alcove shelves. I just used https://www.bunnings.com.au/specrite-1800-x-405-x-18mm-hevea-finger-jointed-panel_p8330180

Did a glued mitre down the log side and attached to 40 x 18 pine. The underside was filled with thin plywood.
