Grid Connect tips, tricks and help

Hi all,

I thought it may he good to have a feed where we could share any tips and tricks to do with any of the Grid Connect Range being Arlec, Deta, Verve, Orion.

I am learning from trial and error and really just accident so sharing with others and sharing back we may be able to create some good learning information for us all.

Please post below starting with what the trick is as the title then how to do so as the body of information.

Re: Grid Connect tips, tricks and help

Thanks @EricL, much appreciated.

As a reference for @CSParnell and @GreenHouse

This is my 'automation' set up:

This is my 'scene' set up (although its only the 'tap to trigger' scene as it's the only option available, so might be redundant?):

I get notifications that motion is detected, but playback doesn't record anything (assuming because there's no specific motion detect 'trigger' for it to do so):

Thanks again for whatever help comes out of this, setting it all up originally when I installed it on purchase took me 5min and has worked fine this whole time, but a few weeks ago somethings gone skewiff.

Re: Grid Connect tips, tricks and help

@FM @EricL Hey mate what app are you using Grid Connect, Tuya Smart or Smart Life?

If you are not using Smart Life I would personally unpair it from Grid Connect again (sorry I know it's a pain), install Smart Life App, create an account and pair the device and see if the function comes up in there.

I find Smart Life seems to have more functions than Grid Life as it is the parents company Tuya main app.

Let me know.

Re: Grid Connect tips, tricks and help

Hi  @FM

I don't have a door bell and so I'm not sure of the answer for you BUT . . .

You could try selecting:

  • 'scene & automation'
  • '+' (to add an automation)
  • 'when device status changes'
  • select you device (door bell)
  • motion state
  • and then 'motion' or something like that.

Sorry if this doesn't work, but it's all I can think off without having the actual device.

All the best!

Re: Grid Connect tips, tricks and help

@FM @EricL You can also try removing the device and the data not just removing the device then put the device into pair state again and repair see if that helps. Once it pairs see if it is there if not see if any updates are available and try that again.

Re: Grid Connect tips, tricks and help

Thanks all,

I gave the above a go to no avail unfortunately, but I did download the SmartLife app and it is much more user friendly. The scenes and automations do look a bit more relevant as well. I set up both and it does seem to register in the scene logs and, notifications so it is doing half the job

The playback however is still busted and doesn't record the activity throughout the day like it use to

I might keep tinkering for tonight and might somehow fluke fixing it. If not, I might give them a call tomorrow. Whatever the outcome I'll be sure to post for reference.

Re: Grid Connect tips, tricks and help

Hey @EricL, @CSParnell, @GreenHouse

Problem all fixed it seems. I bought a new micro SD card and after the usual unpair, uninstall, reinstall, re-pair, I formatted the SD card and we now have my motion and activity recording on my playback:

1000035125.jpg

Turns out after me focusing in on scenes and automations, I didn't actually need them in the end. As long as PIR is on, it will record on playback regardless, so looks like it was an SD card issue all along.

I went for a 200g SD card for the hell of it and we'll see how it goes. Correct me if I'm wrong, but SD cards in these doorbells/ security cameras etc. don't ever get 'full' do they? They just auto rewrite?

Thanks all for the tips and tricks, there's not too much out there for these nitty gritty questions so it was good to brainstrust it together.

Re: Grid Connect tips, tricks and help

@FM So glad you got it sorted, I didn't even think of the SD card being the issue but that makes perfect sense, thank you so much for sharing back the resolution as this will certainly help someone else in the future and yep that's what's it's all about on this forum especially with this thread.

Arlec Grid Connect Motion Sensor - not triggering action

Hi all,

I have been using Arlec Grid Connect App to control the light and fan within my house. I bought the Arlec Grid Connect Motion Sensor with the objective to trigger "Light On" function when there is motion detected. I connected the Motion Sensor with the App and it says properly connected and I did the "Automation" setup with the IF + THEN scenario via the App. I set IF Motion is detected and THEN turn on the Light as simple action.

However after I set this up, there is nothing happen even I have been trying to wave / cover / move anything around the Sensor and doesn't seem to trigger anything.  I do understand that I need to have the Hub SG121HA in place (already connected) but still nothing happened. Can I seek some advice and see if anyone in this community had similar experienced?

FYI this is the model I am using:

Thanks all.
