Hang brackets on thin walls

HangingKit.png

Hello - I have a lowset Queenslander cottage, with tongue and groove walls.

I'd like to hand some shelving in the kitchen to get my microwave off the bench, but the walls are only a single thickness...

How do I hang strong enough brackets (with deep enough screws) without the screws coming out the other side of the wall?

Re: Old QLDer Walls

I wouldn't be screwing to the single thickness boards..You are going to need more strength than just that..

My suggestion would be to screw 2 vertical uprights of 70 x 35 to the boards and then screw your mounting brackets to the uprights..
