Hi,
I have these big sandstone blocks around the house and it looks like the render between the blocks has eroded away. What's the best way to repair this and fill the gaps?
Hi @Stickydates,
Thank you for your question about repairing gaps between sandstone blocks at your home.
I'd suggest you start by removing the loose material in the gaps. This could be done with a flat tool like a screwdriver.
Once the loose material has been removed, I'd suggest packing mortar into the gaps, using a Pointing Trowel to push it into the gaps.
If you'd like to, you can colour the mortar with some Dulux Avista Oxide Sandstone Cement Colouring so that it better matches the stones.
Once pressed in place, allow the mortar to partially dry, then wipe over it with a damp sponge to smooth the mortar and remove any that is unwanted.
Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
