How to remove a plastic screw?

Stupidly, I attached a drawer backing the wrong way around  🙄

The plastic screws are firmly in place now...

What is the best way to remove the screws without damaging them/so I can reuse them  ?

Re: What is the best way to remove a plastic screw?

Hi @Else,

They look to be plastic plugs, and hopefully, they are not one-way fittings. The only way I can think of is to get a couple of flat-head screwdrivers, slip them under the head, and try to lever it out enough to get a hold of it with pliers. Even if you damage the head slightly on removal, it likely won't affect its holding capacity when reinserted.

Let me tag @AlanM52 and @Noyade to see if they have any thoughts.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

I think I'd like to try a very small pair of side-cutters, just under the plastic head edges - then lift/pry.

Don't squeeze the arms! 😉

If elevated a few mm - then try a claw hammer.

Whatever you do, let us know how you got on.

Cheers.

Re: How to remove a plastic screw?

Hi @Else,

Try two lengths of string, one wrapped around to the left the other to the right.

I use the very strong waxed thread from my Speedy Awl.

Cheers
