Are you taking the whole door knob off or just the handle? If is just the handle, you'll see a small grub screw at the bottom of the handle post. you'll need an Allen key to remove it. Once the grub screw is off you should be able to wriggle and pull the handle off.
If you are taking the entire assembly off, the square cover shield can simply be pulled off or twisted anti clockwise to remove. Once the cover shield is off you'll be able to see the screw holes holding the door knob assembly together. Remove those and the whole door handle should come apart.
