Spray painting MDF

Hi All,

I am totally new to this site and have only actually been in Australia a few months.

I am looking to spray paint MDF furniture with 2 pac paint. I have painted MDF previously but that was a few years ago in South Africa. The paint was a 2K product by Luxor but I have no idea what is available in Melbourne.

Does anyone here know what products are available including the primmer and where to get them?

G'day mate, good to have you in Australia, & welcome to the Workshop boards.

Bunnings stock Dunlop Duramax, which has a range of primers, colours & clear coat.

Hope this helps

Re: Spray painting MDF

Thanks for the warm welcome. I went past a paint shop today that recommended wattyl colourthane. It sounded like the correct thing but they were not sure about the details as they don't sell it very often.

@Andy_Mann thanks for the link, it is not what I am looking for but did answer my question of whether or not Bunnings stocks 2K paint.

I will be using the Airwave 50Lt compressor I bought from Bunning to provide the air and using the spray gun provided in the kit. Just need to find a paint shop that knows about this stuff. I will try automotive paint shops as that is what I used previously and will report back.

G'day cobber

I found a product that may interest you, Dulux Luxathane:

I have a lot of trouble finding stuff on Bunnings' web site (Grrrrrr, not happy), so here's a Dulux outlet finder:

Hope this helps.
