Blanking cap for washing machine installation?

Hi team,

I am about to take delivery of a F&P top loading washing machine.  We only have a cold water outlet tap and I'm told we need to cap off the hot water pipe with a 'blanking cap'.  Are these easy to find?  Does Bunnings carry these?  Many thanks.IMG_0477.jpgIMG_0478.JPGIMG_0479.jpg

Re: Washing machine installation

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @joannasibbald. It's fantastic to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about washing machine installation.

You should find this Philmac 3/4" BSP Thread Pipe Cap will blank off the hot inlet on your machine. Just remember to use a little thread tape to seal the threads.

Please let me know if you need further assistance or have questions.

Many thanks Mitchell!

The Bunnings crew helped me find the cap and all seems to be well.

Re: Blanking cap for washing machine installation?

Hi! I have a sudden water leak right below this blanking cap to the hot water inlet for my washing machine. How can I fix this? Any help please?

Re: Blanking cap for washing machine installation?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @kksrivatsa. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about stopping a leak.

When you say right below, is it the cap that is leaking? If so, a cap on a threaded outlet would typically be sealed with plumbers' thread tape or potentially an internal seal. It sounds like the seal on the cap has failed and needs replacement. Alternatively, in some rare instances, the cap itself might have split if it is made of plastic.

If you can take a picture of the area where it is leaking, our helpful members might be able to provide further advice. Let me know if you need a hand uploading images.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Michelle ... the leak appears right below the Red Cap in the image. My initial thought was that the Washer inside (image below) is leaking, but that does not appear to be the case. This is a relatively new washing machine - 1.5 years old only. Thanks!

Re: Blanking cap for washing machine installation?

Can you check around the red fitting to see if there is a split in it @kksrivatsa? It would either be that the fitting isn't tightened enough, the washer needs replacing, or there is a crack in the red fitting on the hose.
