Bunnings toilet installation service - what does like-for-like mean?

Hi all,

We're looking to have our old toilet replaced and have noticed that Bunnings offers an installation service. The $275 offer appears to cover "like-for-like replacement only", but it's not clear what like-for-like covers. Does the new have to have the same trap style as the old?

Any advice appreciated.

Re: Bunnings Toilet Installation Service

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @mun7. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about our toilet installation service.

Like-for-like essentially means that the new toilet is a direct replacement for the old. Having the same trap style would be essential as if it differed from your old toilet, that would mean replumbing the location of the waste pipes in your home. When you select a new toilet, the first thing to check is that it has the same style of trap, regardless our whether you are using our installation service or not. Say you have an S-trap toilet where the waste pipe exits through the floor, if you swapped to a P-trap, the waste pipe would exit your wall; that wouldn't be a direct replacement.

The service involves removing your old toilet and installing a new one. The toilet is then connected to your water inlet and waste pipes. Any additional work required would incur an additional cost, which you can discuss with the installer from hipages at the time of installation.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
