hi
may I please ask for your guidance and suggestions
we are hoping to build second toilet bathroom and possibly add laundry to it and remove existing laundry. We are hoping to have it done under the patio which will be very close to existing toilet.
what do you think ?
What sort of permissions will I need from QLD council?
thanks
Hello @arun11australia
Thanks for sharing your question about your plan on adding another toilet and moving your laundry into a new location.
I propose speaking to a draftsperson or engineer and asking them to quote you on designing an additional room to your existing home. They will be familiar with the local council's rules and regulations in regards to adding and extending another room in your home. Because the plan has been drawn by a draftsperson or engineer it can be submitted to the council when applying for the various permits necessary.
Once the drawing has been accomplished, I recommend speaking to a registered builder and asking them for a quote on how much the construction of the additional section will be. The builder will then quote you the amount and inform you of the permits necessary to begin construction. A building permit will be necessary along with a new toilet installation permit and electrical permit to name just a few. It's best to speak to your builder for more details.
I recommend visiting your local council and getting a brochure or list on the requirements needed when adding an addition or extension to your home.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
