Hi everyone
I want to change the shower head and taps, well more of an upgrade.
do i need to turn off the water supply to do this? I live in an apartment.
Currently this is the shower head i have installed, below link.
Is there anything I need to consider when buying the shower head and taps?
Hi @Joker2021,
It’s always a good idea to turn off the water supply at the mains before working on plumbing fittings, especially in an apartment where unexpected leaks could quickly become a big issue.
The shower head is definitely something you can replace yourself. Your existing one should just screw off, and the new one will screw straight on. Just follow the instructions on the packaging. A bit of plumber’s tape around the thread can help prevent any leaks.
With the tap handles, things are a little different. While you can change washers yourself, the actual replacement of the taps is classed as plumbing work and legally needs to be done by a licensed plumber. The good news is that most new wall taps are designed to suit standard fittings, so you shouldn’t run into compatibility problems. A plumber will also be able to check for any specific issues with your setup before installation.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mitchell
Thanks Mitchell
Yeah I figured the taps would require a plumber when I was watching YouTube videos on how to do it ![]()
Silly question, I am thinking of buying the shower head with a hose attachment from Amazon, see below link.
I presume there should be no issues in fitting it on the wall?
Unless I can find something similar in Bunnings?
Success!!
Hello @Joker2021
Thank you very much for the update, it's good to see your new shower head installed.
