Re: Dropped Shower Screen

Hi @DaniD,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.

Please remember to always exhibit caution when working around glass as there is always a risk of it shattering which can cause unnecessary lacerations. You should always wear gloves, enclosed shoes and long protective clothing when working around glass to be on the safe side.

For the door to have dropped like that, something needs to have shifted. It could be directly around the pivot point of the door, or it could be somewhere else in the frame. Identifying the cause of the issue is going to be key to solving this issue.

Is it possible to get a photo showing the actual cylindrical hinge piece at the top and bottom of the shower? You'll need to get your camera up above the door at the top and below it at the bottom.

Can you see any screws that could be used to adjust the door?

Are there any loose pieces that appear to have shifted? Particularly at the bottom of the door.

Are there any gaps at the far end of the frame that weren't there before?

If you gently pop this cap off the door frame, is the glass sitting high up in the channel, or has it dropped down?

If you can run through these things, take photos of anything you think looks out of the ordinary and let me know what you find, I will try to assist further.

Allow me to tag @Dave-1 and @Noyade to see if they have any thoughts.

Re: Dropped Shower Screen

Good Morning @DaniD

My thoughts are straight along the lines of @JacobZ 's

Tho your very first photo looks like the glass has come up but not out of the base strip. I would try and take the whole door frame out and then clean and see what has gone wrong, maybe the rubber inset has perished with time? It would be easier to repair the top or bottom strips with the door out then try and fix in place.

A bathroom install company may have the replacement parts if they arnt recognisible as something from Bunnings.

Re: How to fix dropped shower screen?

Hi @DaniD,

I forgot to mention that there is oftentimes an adjustment screw in the channel at the top of the door. If you can take a photo aiming down at the top of the frame of the door, there may be a screw there that can be used to adjust the door.

Let me know what you find.

 Thanks Jacob and Dave.

The door has come off the frame. Is it this piece (picture attached) that needs replacing? That’s on the bottom of the shower screen frame

Re: How to fix dropped shower screen?

Hello @DaniD

I'm not familiar with the hinge system your shower is using. But on closer inspection, it appears that something inside the door may have deteriorated. The post at the bottom appears to be intact. I'm not sure of the condition of the post at the top. If the post at the top has failed, then that will need repair or replacement. If you are familiar with your shower manufacturer you could try and track down spare parts through the company.

If finding the manufacturer is not possible, I suggest engaging the services of a professional shower installer. They might be able to identify the hinge system of your shower door or at least be able to repair it.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
