Hi all,
We've recently had our bathroom renovated and realised that a gap was left where the shower inlet was installed. Without going through the hassle of getting the tradies to come back, whats the best way to cover up this gap?
Thanks!
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @brianp. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about fixing a gap.
It depends on whether you are mainly worried about the look of the gap or about water getting in behind the fitting. If the priority is simply to stop moisture from reaching the wall cavity, you can seal the opening with clear wet area silicone. It will fill the gap, bond to both the tile and the pipe, and create a waterproof barrier even though it is not coloured to match the tile.
If the concern is more about appearance, you would need a coloured repair product, such as a small amount of epoxy putty that can be painted to suit the tile. That takes a little more care to apply and smooth, but it can disguise the gap more effectively. If looks are not a major issue, a neat bead of clear silicone is the most straightforward and reliable fix.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
