Thanks in advance
Hello @gkm
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about your cistern.
In order to give our members a better idea of the mechanism inside your cistern, would it be possible for you to remove the cistern cover and take photos of the entire flushing mechanism inside along with the inlet valve. Once we see what kind of flushing set your cistern is using, we'll be able to determine if it can still be repaired or will need full a replacement.
Eric
Thanks @EricL please see attached photos. Please suggest if we can fix it or it needs a replacement. Thank
Hello @gkm
Thank you for sharing those extra photos of your cistern. It appears you have a Geberit flushing unit perhaps a 242 model or older. I'm sorry but the store currently does not carry this unit in stock. I can only suggest using a generic replacement set such as the Kinetic Round And Oval Button Dual Flush Outlet Valve Kit. Please note that it will require the entire cistern to be disassembled in order to replace the flushing mechanism. It is a difficult and complex process, I don't recommend doing it as a D.I.Y repair. I suggest engaging the services of a plumber to repair your cistern properly.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Thanks @EricL could you please suggest howmuch it may cost me for plumbing service?
Also, what are your thoughts on complete cistern replacement with a new sensor based one?
Hello @gkm
I'm afraid every state has its own level of the going rate for plumbing works. It would be difficult to ballpark how much the plumbers would charge. I propose posting the job on Airtasker or Hipages. My best advice is to put in as much information as possible along with the photos and ask the professionals to send you a quote. Please make sure to check their social media posts and ask for references.
I'm not too keen on the automated cisterns as they tend to have short lifespans and end up defective. I would rather use a standard push button flush as it lasts longer. Your cistern is made of ceramic and has a long service life. I don't recommend replacing it as it is still in good condition. One other problem is compatibility; it is difficult to find another ceramic cistern that will match your pan. I recommend reusing what you have and just have the internal pieces updated.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Thanks @EricL for the detailed insights. Sure, I will keep the original cistern and replace the internal parts. Will work out on the plumber quotes. Thanks for the direction. It helped me with the next steps towards fixing. Cheers
Hi @gkm,
If you do decide to upgrade and replace the toilet, I thought I'd let you know that we have a Toilet Installation Offer that you might like to take advantage of. That can make it a super simple process.
