I've had to replace the previous showerhead and I've almost completed the job myself. I've applied silicone beneath the backplate onto the tile and I've applied teflon tape to the copper outlet.
My question is, there is a gap between the shower arm and the backplate - do I need to seal this gap also? Or is it fine as is? Happy to hear suggestions or recommendations.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @ice_cool020. It's amazing to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about filling gaps.
There are a few different thicknesses of those cover plates, and a couple of them are slightly raised, which could fill this area better than the flat one you've used. In saying that, the gap is rather minimal, so the other style might actually be too thick. Given you've already gone to the effort of installing the shower arm, I'd be inclined to fill this small gap with a clear wet-area silicone. It will certainly help prevent water from getting into the gap and tracking back into the wall.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
