New shower - Is this component going to lead to a leaking disaster?

Hi, so thankful for wise and experience advice! THANKS SO MUCH!

Had new shower slide/mixed installed today.

Is this a problem - there's a gap of c.4mm on the flange?

I've added silicone to most of it except a space at the bottom.

Should we pull out and do again so it's flat against the shower liner...?

All other components are flat.

Hello @Maxtiger

Yes, I truly suggest that you put silicone in and around the gap so that you will not get any water going behind that opening.

Re: Is thiscomponent going to lead to a leaking disaster..?

Hi @Maxtiger,

It's great to see you've already received a helpful response from the knowledgeable @redracer01.

It would have been nice if the fitting was flat against the wall. Do you know why it is proud of the wall? I'd imagine it is either because the threaded copper pipe is too long and bottoming out inside the fitting before it becomes flush, or excess thread tape can prevent the fitting screwing on completely.

Adding the silicone all around the gap will most-likely prevent water from getting behind the fitting. Since it won't be receiving water sprayed directly onto it and only residual splashes, I'm fairly confident you won't run into any issues.

Please let us know if you need further assistance or have questions.
