I have a leaking shower. Trying to replace the mixer tap cartridge. I have removed the handle but can't seem to be able to remove the cartridge. I've tried to unscrew chrome fitting but it won't budge. Have a look at the picture there dosen't seem to be a cap that screws off like the other taps in the house.
Hi @ClevoXC,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
It looks like there is a seam where I have shown below.

I can't really tell for certain from that angle, but is there a seam there?
If there is a seam, then this is almost certainly a removable part, and it almost certainly screws off.
If you've tried removing it and it isn't budging, try soaking it with some CLR, allowing it to sit for 5 or so minutes, covering it with a cloth, then tapping it with a hammer. There's a good chance there is some buildup in the threads that is preventing it from turning, so the CLR should help to break it up and tapping it with a hammer will do so even further.
After this, try rotating the ring off. A good pair of gloves should help you grip it. If this doesn't work, wrap it in a cloth and use some multigrip pliers to grasp and rotate it off.
Let me know what you think, and if you don't think this is correct, please let me know so I can assist further.
Jacob
Hi Jacob, no seam there. I did get it loose and a heap of turns. But then it got stuck. And wouldn't come off.

Look here.
Hi @ClevoXC,
The chrome cover must be removed first. There is no other way to access the inner workings, as it prevents their removal. The chrome cover either screws off entirely in an anti-clockwise direction, or it can screw off in an anti-clockwise direction until it hits a governor and then pulls straight off.
If you continue to have issues, you may want to try unscrewing or prying off the large, flat cover flange at the wall. I wouldn't have thought so, but that could be preventing the dome cover from being removed.
