The Bunnings Workshop community can help with your home improvement projects.
Many Bunnings stores offer a timber cutting service to help you get your wood home and get started on your project.
Here are some frequently asked questions about our timber cutting service to help Bunnings Workshop members.
What type of cuts can be done at a Bunnings store?
Bunnings stores typically have two types of saws for timber cutting.
What size cuts can be made and how much does it cost?
Cuts to timber and panels boards are rounded up to 100mm increments. We are unable to do precision cuts. The minimum length of cut timber is 600mm.
Customers are required to purchase any remaining offcuts measuring less than 1800mm.
Multiple timber cuts may incur a charge of $1 per cut.
Is this service available at my local Bunnings?
You can check whether the timber cutting service is available at a nearby store by visiting the Bunnings website. Here’s how:
Can I bring my own piece of timber to be cut?
Due to the many variables associated with timber products, we can only cut products purchased from our stores.
When is the best time to visit a store for timber cutting?
Visiting at a quieter time will ensure faster service. It's best to avoid weekends and public holidays as many other D.I.Y. enthusiasts will also be looking to build their own projects.
What if I want to do the cutting at home?
Knowing what saw to use and how to use it is the key to success. Here are some useful guides to get you started:
What if I can't get my timber home?
We offer a number of options to get your products home safely. You can use our free courtesy trailer for up to two hours. If you need more time you can also hire a trailer, a ute or a van to suit your needs. We also offer a comprehensive delivery service to assist you in getting your purchases home. Most stores offer same day or next day service. Please contact your nearest store for details.
As always, our helpful members are ready to assist with any questions you have on completing precision cuts for your D.I.Y. projects at home.

I know bunnings offers a wood cutting service however my question is about the type of cut.
I am aiming to purchase 2 x 2200x600x26mm acacia boards from bunnings however I would need 1 end of each cut into a curve to make sure no sharp corners.
They would be used as a desk top in our living room and I don't want anyone (such as a rambunctious child) running into the corner that's out from the wall.
Many thanks
Hello @gwoods
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us.
The shop saws only do straight cuts and are not capable of doing curves. However, if you wish to explore the possibility of cutting the curve yourself, I propose using an Ozito 680W Pendulum Jigsaw With 3 Blades JSW-6800 in combination with a Diablo 100mm High Carbon Steel Jig Saw Blade for Fine Finish Wood Cuts 2608F02234 - 5 Pack. These high carbon steel jig saw blades are specifically designed for high-performance cutting in fine finish wood applications. A high carbon steel cutting edge provides fast and effortless cuts in soft materials.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

I need a board 100mm x 50mm x 3mm can I get it cut at Bunnings?
Hi @SCR,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
Unfortunately, this would be too small of a cut to fit within our safety procedures.
Thin material like 3mm ply is relatively easy to cut yourself, so you might like to give it a try with something like this Coping Saw.
If you'd like to give it a try and need some guidance, please let me know so I can assist further.

Hi, Would bunnings cut yellow tongue to a 1200x600 size from their standard range?
Good Evening @Sk88
Bunnings will cut timber but wont guarentee that it will be cut exactly.
There are discrepencies when cutting timber so they will generally cut the larger piece down and then you do the final cut at home so you get it right.
Have a chat with the guys in store and I am sure they will do their best but the exactness isnt there.
I have used the service to get a larger piece home in the back of the car, I still have to buy the lot but at least I get it home.
Welcome to the community page by the way, looking forward to seeing whatever you do with the yellow tounge ![]()

Hi @Sk88,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
As @Dave-1 has already mentioned, yes, we can cut YellowTongue, but you will need to purchase the entire sheet.
Our policy is to cut timber to the nearest 100mm, so being measurements in increments of 100mm, we can cut it to that size with reasonable accuracy.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

I am looking to have some timber cut into a custom shape for a desktop to fit into a window space in my home office. I'm wondering if this kind of shape is possible for the Bunnings staff to do.
I'd be purchasing the SpecRite 2400 x 900 x 33mm Brown Acacia Multi-Use Timber Panel and getting it cut into a sort of trapezoid shape (but with 6 sides).
Thanks for your help!
Hello @rr724
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us.
I'm sorry but the shop saws are not capable of doing complex or angled cuts. The good news is that the SpecRite 2400 x 900 x 33mm Brown Acacia Multi-Use Timber Panel is not that hard for you to cut. If you have access to a handsaw or circular saw, you can easily cut those angles you've indicated on your plans. Your goal is to cut the timber as straight and true as possible, fine adjustments can be made by using a sanding block or an electric sander.
Once you've pushed the benchtop into place, the edge that meets up with the window frame can be sealed with a gap filler giving it a clean perfect finish.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
