I am looking to line the ceiling for my open truss garage (very high ceiling too approx 3.5m) above is a tile roof with no sarking so plenty of dusty coming in.
Im on a very tight budget and thinking of lining with reclaimed pallet timber. Found a couple videos on this. But im wondering if bunnings still offer free pallets to take and if so would it be wrong of me to take so many. My garage is approx 5.5 by 5.5. So big area and guessing would need over 30 pallets. So I am guessing it would take time to accumulate too.
Just trying to work out the logistical and practical side of doing this option?
Thanks.

Love reusing things but this is one that may not work so easily.
Pretty sure Bunnings do give away pallets, plus I know of plenty of places in the light industry areas around where I live give them away as well.
The reason why I dont think it will work so easily is two fold.
Weight, imagine 30 pallets minis their supports weight hanging off your garage that has been designed to carry xxxkg load.
Pallet timber generally is faily weak, the added rafters, supports that will be needed to attach the pallet timbers will strain the roofing structure.
Ive considered after fitting sarking for my house but due to the tight reaches its in the too hard for now basket. If you have access to the roof and it sounds like you do it may be a less weighty option of retro fitting some sarking, even if its just between the trusses.

Hi @diymatt87
I could be wrong, but I think it's been some time since Bunnings had pallets to give away. This is part of their sustainability program. However, you will find free unbranded pine pallets by doing a drive around industrial estates.
