How to build a freestanding kitchen shelf?

Hello Advisors,

I am planning to build a kitchen shelf and have identified the tools and materials I would need.

Could you please advise if the items listed below are appropriate?

For shelving unit: CUSTOMpine 16 x 2400 x 1200mm White Matt Carcass Particleboard MR

Re: Freestanding kitchen shelf

Hello @jjk

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about adding a kitchen shelf.

Your choice for tools and materials for your shelf is excellent. My best advice is to practice with your circular saw first on some off cut timber to make you familiar with your saws function. Keep in mind that your saw has a 2mm blade thickness it's important to be aware of your orientation when cutting otherwise the blade will eat into the wrong side of the timber. Tripple check your measurements and use masking tape on the cutting surface of the panel to reduce the chance of splintering the surface of the panel.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
