Re: How to clean stain and bubbles from kitchen drawer?

Hello @joejoe

Thanks for sharing your question about your kitchen drawer. I believe the previous tenant may have been too vigorous with their cleaning. The bubbles you see inside your drawer are the result of water going past the paint barrier and onto the MDF (medium-density fibreboard) drawer panel. Once water gets in contact with MDF it produces this particular effect. In order to repair it, the panel must be sanded to remove the bubbles and repainted to protect it from moisture.

If the drawer can be disassembled then it would be easier to repaint the drawer panel. However, if you can't take it apart you will have to mask the sides of the drawer with masking tape to avoid getting paint on it. I recommend using British Paints 1L White Semi-Gloss Doors Windows And Trim Paint And Prime. It can go straight on the panel as it is both primer and paint. It should be perfect for your needs as it is hardwearing and can withstand constant wiping and cleaning.

Here is a handy step-by-step guide: How to paint MDF

Please keep us updated with your progress, we look forward to seeing your drawer repaired.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.
