I have a timber bench top that needs revamping. Can I paint it and if so what products should I use?
Hello @ArCunn
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your benchtop.
Can I please get a few more details about your timber benchtop. Do you wish to re-seal it with a stain and varnish or just an ordinary benchtop sealer to retain the wooden finish? Do you wish to paint it a different colour? The general steps for both will require you to sand the surface of the benchtop. I recommend investing in a detail sander such as the Ozito 200W Detail Sander. It has a full complement of free sanding pads that should get you going. Wipe the table clean of sanding dust once the sanding process is complete. You can then prepare the stain and varnish or paint to go onto the surface of the benchtop.
I propose looking at the Cabot's 1L Satin Clear Benchtop Timber Finish to seal your benchtop. I recommend visiting your local store and have a look at the stain and varnish sample board in the paint department. This will give you a better idea of the finish the satin and varnish have when applied to wood.
Here are some handy guides that will help:
