Hi all!
I have had this art piece for a long time, but recently it unfortunately was dropped while moving causing this crack at the corner, also the frame itself has sustained damage. I am not too experienced in repairing glass, I though of using a glass repair kit (the one for windshields), but I am not to sure if it would work for such a large crack and this type of glass. Other option was completely replacing the glass but for that I am not sure where to source glass like this, plus I would have to remove everything from the back (staples hanging etc) to do this repair job which is tedious and is more error prone, and I do not want to ruin this painting in the process.
I would appreciate any ideas on how I can approach this issue and any tips. thanks!
Hello @hello12
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about the glass on your picture frame.
I propose bringing your frame to either a framing shop where they will be able to properly unseal your picture and replace the broken glass or to an aluminium and glass shop where they can cut a custom sized glass panel that will replace your broken one.
Please remember that working with glass is dangerous, an accidental hit with a tool or when too much force is applied can make it shatter and cause injury. Please remember to wear personal protection such as gloves and goggles when handling glass.
For the meantime I suggest putting clear tape over the split section to prevent it from falling out.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
