so as far as i got is working out the cut sizes and the size i need for a king single horizontal murphy bed.
i need help if someone can double check my designs. as far as i can see it works.
i'm thinking of using 2440 x 1220 x 18mm ply wood
i put 19mm because ply wood is not realy 18mm its more like 18.8mm unless the stuff at bunnings is a bit different XD
i would love to buy a flat pack but because they are like 1,000$-2,000$ not including shipping im wanting to do it my self.
at the bottom of the mattress holder im going to use strong door hinges to connect it to the outer box.
the images should show what in need cut. would bunnings cutting service do these cuts ?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @SpeedRider. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about cutting up timber.
Although the Bunnings team can help with cutting sheets down so they fit in your vehicle, the service is not a precision cutting service. Cuts can be out by around 5 to 10 millimetres, and we only cut to the nearest 100 millimetre increment. It is helpful when you simply need a sheet made more manageable, but it is not suitable for detailed cabinetry-style projects like a Murphy bed where your design relies on accurate sizing.
You would be able to get one or two basic breakdown cuts done in store, although the final pieces will need to be cut at home so they match your exact measurements. The good news is that with a circular saw, a straight edge or saw guide, a decent tape measure, and basic safety gear like glasses, hearing protection, and a dust mask, you can achieve the accuracy you need.
I've checked all your cuts on the sheets, and they appear to match up to your plans.
If you want to cut your own timber, knowing what saw to use and how to use it is the key to success. Here are some useful guides to get you started:
