Needing to cover internal brick wall in formal lounge. Was wanting to have a mostly smooth render look. What product would I use and can I apply straight over clean and dry bricks. the wall also is partially plastered. Can I use suggested product on this as well.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @pamshan. It's brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about rendering a wall.
You can certainly use a standard pre-mixed render over the brick section, and it should take very well since the surface is rough and porous. The plastered area is trickier, though, as render isn’t typically applied over plaster. Can you confirm whether it’s a brick wall that’s been plastered over, and if so, could the plaster be removed to expose the brick? That would give you a much better base for rendering. Otherwise, you might consider using a textured paint on the plastered sections to achieve a similar rendered look, as applying render directly over plaster isn’t generally recommended.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
