How to level hybrid flooring?

Hi everyone!

We just got a new patio door installed and during the installation we realised our floor is not level hence the base of the door frame gap between the floor and base of the door frame is uneven.

Is there anything I can do to lift or fill the low areas beneath the flooring?

We have hybrid flooring.

Thanks.IMG_7279.jpgIMG_7280.jpgIMG_7281.jpg

Re: Underfloor filling

Hi @fr97sk,

It looks like there is a noticeable fall in the floor in that section, and unfortunately problems like this need to be corrected before hybrid flooring is installed. The boards interlock, so to reach the low spot you would need to remove all boards back to a wall or starting point. Trying to lift only the boards near the door will simply move the height difference further along the floor and create another step where the boards meet the rest of the room.

To correct the issue properly, you would lift the flooring back to a wall, expose the subfloor, and use a self-levelling compound to bring the low areas up to the correct height. Once the subfloor is levelled and cured, the boards can be reinstalled so they sit flat against the new patio door. If the slope is confined to the doorway itself, there may be further investigation needed to understand why that section is dipping. But with the way hybrid flooring locks together, there is unfortunately no simple localised fix without pulling the boards back to the starting point.

Re: How to level hybrid flooring?

Hi @fr97sk

Thats a substantial drop in such a short distance. The first thing I would want to confirm is whats out of level, the door or the floor? if its the floor then you might need to check how far its running out as the home may need re-stumping or the joists packed out which will lift the floor up.

This is something I would get checked first before tackling a repair that may not be suitable.
