Hello,
I want to repaint all my doors (interior only).
I am not sure what material they are (please see a pic in attach). I think they are MDF?
I was looking at the colors available in Bunnings for door painting and they are not what I am after.
I could get the color mixed but it's too much of a hassle.
Can I use interior wall paint for the doors? I like it more as it offers way more color options. If it's possible, what brand would you recommend?
Thank you!!
Hello @ventodimare
It's great to see you're onto another project. If its an interior door it's possible that its made of MDF or similar material. The paint specialist can pretty much mix up almost any colour you can find in the colour card sample board. For doors and door trims, I suggest looking at Dulux 4L Aquanamel Semi Gloss White Enamel Paint. It is a water-based interior and exterior acrylic enamel that dries to an ultra-smooth and durable finish.
I don't recommend using wall paint as it does not have the same toughness of enamel paint. I suggest choosing a colour from the colour card sample board and showing it to the paint specialist and asking them to mix it in the Dulux Aquanamel set. They will choose the paint base for you and take care of the rest. Getting the paint tinted is a service the store offers and is not an inconvenience.
Here is a handy step-by-step guide: How to Paint a Front Door (the techniques used are applicable to your project)
Please remember to wear personal protection such as gloves, goggles and a mask when painting.
