How to repair textured ceiling?

I have a home with textured ceilings. I have located the correct tool to apply the texture ie. A crows foot texture brush. However I don't know what plaster to buy in order to complete the repairs. Could someone please advise me?

Thanks Judy

Re: Textured ceilings

Hello @JudyJ

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your textured ceilings.

Before you begin, if your home was built between 1970 and late 1980's, I suggest having your ceiling checked for asbestos. Many of the homes in this time period used asbestos as a fire deterrent. If the results are positive, you'll need to engage an asbestos removal specialist to take the asbestos out. If the results are negative, you can continue with your ceiling repairs. For a uniform finish, I suggest looking at Gyprock CSR 2.25kg Less Mess Multi-Purpose Joint Compound to patch your ceiling area.

Please note that it may take several tries before you achieve the finish you are aiming for. I recommend looking at a few online tutorials on how the crows foot texture brush is used.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
