How to cover gap in adjoining verandahs?

Any suggestions on how I can cover the gap in this wall to stop the glare from neighbours verandah lights? I was thinking some type of cladding but would welcome suggestions.

Re: Covering gap in adjoining verandahs

Hi @MF100,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @MF100. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about closing in a gap in your verandah.

Firstly, could you upload some photos that are up a bit closer? Is the opening timber, or brick?

You could go with a solid, permanent option, such as cladding it with Fibre Cement Cladding, but this would require you to construct a timber frame to support that cladding.

Another option, which is much more lightweight and would be easier to install is shade sail, which could be installed by adding Shade Sail Pad Eyes and connecting the shade sail to them with your choice of a variety of different Shade Cloth Accessories.

Something like this Outdoor Roman Bamboo Blind 240 x 210cm could also be a simple and easy option.

Allow me to tag @Dave-1, @Noyade and @AlanM52 to see what ideas they have.

Let me know what you think.

Re: Covering gap in adjoining verandahs

Hello @MF100,

For a start I would not do anything that's permanent.

As @JacobZ mentioned I would do the blind thing.

And... I would make my own shade mesh blinds.

Two shade mesh blinds that like curtains can be drawn together when needed so most of the time they would be open.

Choose your colour, measure and cut to size.

Crimp on eyelets and use stainless steel stranded wire with a support hook in the middle.

Cheers

Re: Covering gap in adjoining verandahs

Good Evening @MF100

Any chance of a couple more larger photos? Ones showing the edge of your patio type deal and a larger one showing the area in daylight migt help work out some ideas.

I was thinking of the Suntuf 10mm x 2.4m Clear Sunlite Twinwal Polycarbonate Roofing with it being fixed either side and along the top. As a difuser but still allowing light through.
