How to fill gap between brick house and deck?

 Hi there,

I am doing a low level deck from my patio, in tasmania,  there is still lot to do. I am having some questions.

a) It’s low level deck, directly from patio, Intially I was planning attach the bearer to bricks aligned directly, I saw some post which were not recommended. The level currently is just at the brick in picture. Once I lay the deck board it will be 19mm above that brick line. What I can do in the brick? Can I lay over deck board above that? If I level 19mm below the bricks, there is not much air flow as it will touch the ground level.??

b) As it is low level ground deck, do you recommend avoid moistures???

Thank you

Thanks Eric,

Sorry I am bit confused, Do I just cut deck board same size as brick line, place builder edge below deck board? Do I screw in this one??

Or use same first board fitted on top of brick line aswell.?

Hello @Ashishpra123

My apologies, it is I that misunderstood your explanation. Please disregard my suggestion about using the same decking panel. Instead, I wanted to ask, is it not possible to raise the height of the decking frame to the necessary height instead of adding more timber to your frame? By raising the decking frame by 30mm the decking panel will now be in line with the top of the aluminium rail.

Yes that’s exactly what I have done raise deck frame by 30mm.

My query is with the gap between the aluminium and deck frame, the small brick line.

once the frame is raised aluminium line and frame will align but bricks will be 30mm depth.

In this situation how can I lay my first board?
should use single board from deck frame to aluminium. I will only have screw space in deck frame. Where as other end lose to aluminium will be hollow due to depth to brick line.

Sorry I am very new to DIY, not able to explain but better. apologies

Re: How to fill gap between brick house and deck?

Hello @Ashishpra123

The overhang to the brick line is not that big, but if you wish to support it underneath, I suggest putting a piece of timber underneath to support the overhang. It can be placed over the brick line and in order for the support piece not to touch the brick line you can use a plastic spacer. I hope that makes sense.

If you need further assistance, please let me know.
