Hi @stocky,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
If you have run through the troubleshooting steps mentioned above and also had your son, who is a gas fitter, check out the barbecue, then it seems likely there is a fault with the BBQ.
Assuming it is still under warranty, I would suggest returning it to the store of purchase with your receipt for a replacement. If you no longer have the receipt, a manager will be able to help with locating and reprinting the receipt for you.
If you have any issues, please let me know so I can assist with the return.
Jacob
Just a Saturday afternoon thought @stocky.
The hose on the left (brand new) worked fine for around two months. Then I noticed the BBQ would only light with a very low flame - impossible to cook anything.
I blamed the BBQ - but I couldn't find anything wrong.
I then blamed the cylinder - but the problem still occurred, even with three different cylinders.
Then I changed back to the 'old' internal thread style hose.
The BBQ thereafter was back to normal and working perfectly.
Go figure.
