trying to hang some outdoor lights, I am going to use a wire to support the lights, any ideas for securing the wire? Just trying to avoid drilling holes. Thanks.
Hello @cal2
I'm afraid it will be necessary to drill holes where you plan to run the wire. The wire must be secured through an eyelet and that eyelet will need to be anchored properly so that it can take the weight of the wire and the outdoor lights. Using plastic sticky hooks will not be strong enough to hold the weight of the wire and the outdoor lights. But it can be used as a continuous hook system when lined up against the wall. But for long stretches between two points the stick-on adhesive will not be strong enough.
Would it be possible for you to post a photo of the area where you plan to install the lights? Once we see the area, we'll be able to offer suggestions on how you can mount the eyelet, wire and lights.

It’s a small area behind my garage, I am thinking just anchoring the wire under the gutter (this is an old photo), I managed to find some heavy duty magnet hook at bunnings, holding up pretty well so far. My next plan will probably be using screw eye hook if the magnet hooks fail.
Hello @cal2
Should the magnet hook fail, I can only suggest putting the eye hook under your eave. Make sure that you screw into the eave's timber stud and not just the cover of the eave. In order to find the timber stud in the eave, I suggest using a stud finder such as the Ryobi Stud Finder With AC Detection RYSF5003. This will help find the stud and then you can screw the eye hook into it.

Is there space at the bracket area to loop a large Jumbo cable tie?
