So, background... I Barbecue 6 days out of 7 mostly, sometimes 7 days
My wife loves it, and I do pretty much all of the cooking.
Yes, even Stir Fry, vegetables, you name it - I cook it (except cakes and biscuits.
So last week, my old BBQ suffered a fire. My own fault, I asked Google to give me a 1 hour countdown on a rotisserie pork loin, after a 40 minute successful start.
Never do this. I went indoors to watch some yourtube, and unbeknownst to me, the rotisserie motor siezed, and it was all on fire. The pork was a brick of charcoal. the motor fried, flames averywhere, and the glass on the hood shattered, and the bbq was a mess.
So after I convinced my wife, the financial controller and accountant that i would be impossible to live with, she accepted that I could buy a new BBQ.
I chose the Matador Ignite +4 Had all the things I wanted.
So heres' my experience, and some tips on assembly.
ASSEMBLY:
It took me about 6 hours all up, because there was a little bit of jigsaw puzzle even though I followed the assembly manual. `
For some of the assembly (Firebox and left and right shelves) I needed a second person to hold the shelves in place. Fine enough.
Putting in the Grease channel - yes quite a good addition, it's a tad confusing from the instructions. You need to slip the channel INTO the front facsia for it to stick, and you should keep the screws and washers loose so you can lock it down.
In the above you can also see the chopping board, beneath this is a "bucket" very useful for prep work.
Also, the connector for the lights is not easy to find, it's wrapped up at the front of the BBQ Firebox, and you have to feel around for it. Once found easy enough to connect to the accompanying adapter.
Putting in the 8.5 kilo gas cylinder requires a bit of manoeuvring. It looks like it wont fit, but you have to put it horizontally first, then lift it upright, and it slides in easily.
make sure you orientate it correctly so you can connect the gas, though you can easily turn it.
On that subject, this BBQ ONLY takes the NEW (Black LCC27) connector. So my old BBQ could take both the Green and the Black. Not this one, so I have a 3/4 full green 8.5 kg cylinder. I'm going to ask my local Bunnings if `i can just swap it out, even if I have to pay more. (I have 2 cylinders, one on standby and one in use).
USE and FEATURES
So this has, as noticed above a cutting board and "bucket". It also has a slide out bin, a paper towel holder, a spice rack, a side burner and trivet assembly, and for my purchase, a rotisserie (This time I wont be leaving it alone), a really good warming tray and an amazing rear burner. Thats going to be great for Shwarma Kebabs and other rotisserie things.
It also has more lights, bluetooth, and the kind of smarts that make me happy
The Bluetooth panel - I haven't figured out how to set the date yet (IT seems to come up with a date and time when you first switch it on. I think its the date and time anyway).
Heads up - it comes with a Power adaptor for this to work, so where I have it, I don't have a convenient power point, so I will be running an extension cord when I want to use the features (you don't need to have power, but if you want the built in lights and LEDs to work, yes, you need 240 volts)
I christened it after washing it with warm soapy water and cooked some simple Coles sausages. A sausage on a BBQ always tastes better than any cooked on a stove, IMHO
The LEDs tell you the level of heat, as does the Bluetooth panel.
After assembly, it worked immediately, no issues whatsoever.
BTW, the grease channel is part of the grease trap assembly, and there's a grease tray - unfortunately you access it from the back, BUT they have included a grease bowl, which you can access from the front, and slide it out to empty it. What a great idea.
Hope this helps others
I'm VERY happy, and this weeks efforts will include a Tomahawk Steak, another attempt at a rotisserie pork loin, and some burgers.
EDIT - UPDATE, the Bluetooth unit doesn't tell the time and date, LOL. it's booting up. I downloaded the Matador `app onto my phone, connected the bbq and the Ultrasonic gas Level detector** (amazing) then messed around with the temperature probes. Yep, this is promising, as the app seems to allow me to monitor the meats cooking etc, and sends an alarm to the phone.
** remember to tie the detector to the bottom of the gas stand, because you might accidentally forget to detach it when you replace the gas cylinder.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Theyak.
I suspect that my colleague @EricL is still awaiting a reply from Matador, which will likely happen after the weekend. He'll update you and @Isaunders85 when we hear from them.
Many thanks for your patience.

I am also experiencing this issue the bbq is less than a month old and has been used twice.
Went to light the rotisserie tonight and it lights fine but the knob will not move past high, can't turn down the heat any lower than max.
No combination of twisting or pulling works.
Appreciate any updates as taking the entire bbq back to a store location would be problematic and frustrating for sure.
Hello @Theyak
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's wonderful to have you join us.
I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing a similar issue with your controller. I am currently waiting for an answer from Matador which I hope will come on Monday. However, your query sounds like a warranty issue. I propose filing a claim on the Matador Website or you can call the store where you purchased the BBQ from.
If you need further assistance, please let me know.

Hello @Isaunders85
Thank you for your patience. I've received a response from Matador, and they have indicated that burner control knob does not have any adjustment and is only set as "High". If you wish to make further inquiries regarding the control knob. The customer service team have advised to call them directly on 1300 360 211 and look for Mabel.

Hi,
I have bought this barbecue a week ago and I am very happy with the barbecue, it took me almost a week to find out how to set up the ultrasonic gas leveling system because it came with no instructions and I couldn't find anything anywhere, but it still doesn't seem to want to work properly.
The leveler won't turn on unless it's plugged in.
It then says it doesn't have enough gas.
When I turn it over and slot it into its cradle it said it's not centred and won't update.
If anyone can give me a tip on what I'm doing wrong I'm happy to try it if I haven't already.
BBQ awesome. 😁👍
Ultrasonic gas leveling system 😮💨👎
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @DaveBBQ. It's tremendous to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about the Matador gas levelling system.
I've just been reading through the manual for the Matador Ignite+ 4 burner Barbecue.
Gas Level reader
Your IGNITE + BBQ comes with a gas cylinder reader. This reader is attached to the base of your BBQ to prevent loss.
STEP 1 - The reader has a rechargeable battery, prior to use, charge the device using the a USB ‘C’ cable (not provided). It takes approximately X Hrs to charge the reader so it is ready for use.
STEP 2 - Once charged and turned on, the Ignite BBQ Thermometer will search for the reader and automatically connect.
STEP 3 - The reader has a hole in one corner that is designed to take the tether strap that came with your BBQ. Attach one end of the strap to the gas cylinder support and the other to the gas level reader.
STEP 4 - The reader is magnetic and designed to sit underneath your gas cylinder in the middle of the tank as per the image below.
I just wanted to check that you'd fully charged the reader. Not having a charge could be why it's only operating when plugged in. If you allow it to recharge for several hours and it still won't turn on, then there may be an issue with it.
Have you tried checking whether the reader is attached on the correct side. Could you try flipping it over? I'm just wondering whether the magnet might be strong enough that it attaches to the bottle in the wrong direction, shooting the ultrasonic waves down instead of up into the bottle.
If we can't trouble-shoot it here I'd be happy to reach out to Matador.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hey @MitchellMc
Can you ask Matador if there is a replacement for the gas sensor?
I cant find one.
My sensor is definitely having issues. Started at the weekend.
It was correctly giving me level on previous cylinder, and yeah, cylinder emptied.
Fully charged, and with a NEW gas cylinder, full, it shows 1.8cm level
So far troubleshooting:
re-paired the meter in bluetooth
turned sensor off then on (hold down button)
Uninstalled and reinstalled the app
Cleaned the vaseline from the tank and the sensor and reapplied
made sure sensor is right side up and centred on bottom of cylinder
Sensor is 100% charged
Annoying that it's sending me alerts, LOL but thats only when I have the app running.
UPDATE: turning the sensor off and on while connected to the cylinder (hold the button till you get the beep), the level shows 4.4 cm, and now 2.3 cm - so this suggests an issue with the sensor itself.
Happy to pay for a replacement sensor to test if that's the issue
Hi @Walter,
I've checked with our Spare Parts team, who have confirmed with our supplier that they are available and in stock.
The part number is GB0924.
If you give our Spare Parts team a call on 1800 772 737, they will be able to get you a price and set things up so it can be delivered to your local store.
Let me know if you require any further assistance with this one. I am happy to help if required.
