How to close a door opening with non-standard 95mm studs?

I’m helping a friend close up a door opening, but I’ve noticed the wall studs are 95mm wide instead of the usual standard sizes. Does anyone know where I could source these, or is there a good workaround to match them?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Non-standard 95mm studs – sourcing or workaround?

Hi @achintya88,

The simplest way to account for this small variation in thickness is to pack out a standard 90mm stud with some strips of 5mm Masonite.

You can cut them to width using a circular saw and then stick them on with Liquid Nails before attaching your plasterboard or other sheet material over the top.

Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hi @achintya88

You can also go to a specialist timber supplier and have them produced to your required size which is unfortunately a service Bunnings do not provide. However if you speak to the special orders/trade counter, they may be able to order some in for you.

Glad to hear it @achintya88.

I hope the rest of your friend's project went smoothly.
