I have a wooden house. And I have these gaps in between some beams and the floor. As you can imagine I gather a lot of dirt in them. What can I use to fill these gaps with?
Hi @jess9,
You could fill the gap with a timber filler such as this Timbermate Hardwood Wood Filler or this Timbermate Walnut Wood Filler, depending on which one you feel is closer to the colour of your post and floorboards.
Alternatively, you could cover the gap with a trim such as this Porta 12x12mm Quad Meranti. You would need to cut the timber to length with an angled cut on each end, then fix it in place. You could use a Craftright Mitre Box And Saw Set to make your cuts, then fix it in place with finish nails, then cover the nail holes with timber filler. This is a more in-depth solution, but it will give you a nicer look and better cover for the gap.
Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for your response. This is perfect.
I too recommend some sort of wood dressing around the post.
Cheers.
