How to unlock the Ozito mitre saw head?

How to unlock the saw head on Ozito 2100W 254mm 10" Corded Double Bevel Sliding Mitre Saw?

Hi got a new mitre saw which is working well in every respect except I cant unlock the head to let it lift? The instructions have nothing in them mentioning it either. There's a screw knob where I would expect to loosen it, but nope still locked. Appreciate any help here. Might just be me being night blind!

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @caroleous. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about Ozito saws.

I believe it would be the lockdown pin referenced in the instruction manual. Push the saw head downwards via the handle to release tension on the pin. Pull the pin outwards to the right, and whilst it is pulled out, allow the head of the saw to lift up.

Please let me know if you have any questions and how you go.

Thanks Mitchell, I'll give it another try. I think it might just be extremely tight which made me wonder if it was the correct one. Might need some extra encouragement.

That could well be the case, @caroleous. Ensure you push the head right down, as without releasing the pressure, I don't believe you can pull the pin out. And yes, it can be quite stiff. Mine took a good yank to pull out initially and then loosened up over time.

As per @MitchellMc 's thoughts @caroleous.

Methinks the upward pressure from the motor/blade head spring is countering the force required to pull the pin outwards.

Let us know how you get on please.
