How to fix glass shower door hinge?

Hi there

I noticed today that our shower door had started sagging and due to this it was catching.

The top hinge seems to be the issue (looks like the two parts of the hinge are not sitting tightly - refer to the photo).

I removed the screws of the top hinge and tightened the door. Whilst the catching /sagging seems to be fixed, the hinge still looks different to the bottom hinge (can see screws?).

Question, how can I fix this? Should I replace the hinge?

 Thanks

Re: Glass Shower Door Hinge

Hello @Tesh

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about your glass door hinges.

Just a friendly reminder that working with glass is dangerous an accidental hit with a tool or when too much force is used could cause the tempered glass to shatter and cause injury. Please remember to wear personal protection such as firm fitting rubber gloves, appropriate clothing, closed toe shoes and goggles when handling glass.

It's possible that the hinges have worn out or the rubber holders pinching the glass have deteriorated. It is difficult to diagnose as the fittings are hidden inside the hinge. I'm not familiar with your glass door hinge, but it is clearly custom as they have cut outs in the glass just to fit them in. I propose engaging the services of a professional shower installer. They might be able to recognize the type of hinge you are using. The store does have shower glass hinges, but they are designed to fit and hold the Mondella shower series only and can't be retrofitted to other showers.

In this particular instance, I suggest engaging the professionals so that the repair will be done safely and will be covered under the installers warranty.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
