How to fix leaking framed shower?

How to fix leaking framed shower?

When we shower, water runs down the door and leaks out through the gap shown in picture 2. We’ve tried using a generic shower seal, but because it’s a framed door, we need a seal that’s at least 15mm wide — and we haven’t been able to find one that size.

The underside of the door isn’t solid either, shown in the first picture, so we’re not sure if something is supposed to slide in there, or if a part is missing.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Re: Leaking framed shower

Hi @SpicedLemon25,

Welcome to the Bunnings workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.

The channel on the underside of the aluminium frame may be there to accept a proprietary seal. If you could identify the brand of shower frame, you may be able to find a replacement seal that works perfectly with your shower door.

Alternatively, the best option I can think of is to use clear silicone to stick a Sandleford 10 x 2200mm Shower Seal Strip inside the channel on the underside of the frame.

If need be, you can cut off the pieces I have indicated below so you can get better contact with the underside of the aluminium frame.

Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Re: Leaking framed shower

There is no brand or model on the shower door as such but there is ‘Decina’ on the plug.

Re: Leaking framed shower

Hi @SpicedLemon25,

Decina makes a variety of bathroom accessories, so while they may have made the base, this does not necessarily mean the frame is made by Decina.

If you have a look through the Decina Bathroomware Shower System Archives, do any of these showers look similar to yours?

It seems like the only ones that are semi-framed, like yours, have sliding doors, so I suspect it is not a Decina shower screen or frame.

If we can't identify the specific shower screen or frame, I'd say the method I mentioned above is your best option.

Let me know what you think.
