Re: tape leaking from tye base

Hi @shamshah,

Thank you for your question about a leak in your basin tap.

The likely solution to your issue is to replace the mixer cartridge.

Start by removing the hot/cold indicator button with a flat tool like a screwdriver. This should reveal a grub screw, that when loosened, you will be able to take off the tap handle.

Once the tap has been removed, you will see the mixer cartridge. To get it out, you will need to rotate off the ring that you can see just below the tap handle.

Depending on how solidly stuck it is, you may be able to do this by hand. If not, try soaking it with WD-40. If you still can't remove it by hand after this, try using a Strap Wrench.

Once this ring is off, you will be able to remove the mixer cartridge. Once it has been removed, take the old mixer cartridge in store and head to the plumbing aisle. Grab a team member from the plumbing section who should be able to help you find a like for like match.

You can then reverse the process to reinstall everything.

Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Re: tape leaking from tye base

Thanks for your reply Jacob. Really appreciate it.
sorry I didn’t explain it well previously. actually it’s not the Tap that is leaking .it’s more like when some water goes around the base of tap, while washing hands. That water comes down into the cabinet from the base of the tap where it’s sitting over the sink. I hope I explain it bit better now. Thanks

Re: tape leaking from tye base

Hi @shamshah,

Well, if that is the case, the solution is much simpler. Take some Parfix Clear Bathroom And Kitchen Silicone and run a bead of silicone around the base of the tap.

Check out How To Silicone a Gap for some guidance on the process.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
