How to replace Gwail toilet?

I have a n existing Gwail toilet and seat.  Can I replace this with a Caroma cistern and seat? I believe Gwail owns Caroma and trades as GWA Industries.

Re: Toilet & Cistern replacement

Hi @davo56,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

There's a good chance you'll be able to find a compatible cistern and seat, however, we'll have to check a few things.

Are you aware of the specific model of toilet/cistern that you currently have? Could you upload some photos?

This will help us identify suitable replacements if they are available. Let me know if you need a hand uploading images. I am happy to help if required.

The main things we'll need to check are the flush pipe height and position, the location of the water inlet (bottom or back entry), and the mounting points to ensure they align with the new cistern.

For a replacement toilet seat, measure the shape and size of the pan, the distance between the bolt holes, and the length from the bolt holes to the front of the pan. The new seat must match these measurements to fit securely and look right.

Allow me to tag @sjkehoe72 and @Nailbag to see if they can offer any further guidance or can see any important things I have missed.

Re: Toilet & Cistern replacement

Hi @davo56

I think @JacobZ has pretty much covered all the key points. Plus as he mentioned a few photos will help provide further clarification.

The only other important point, is that though you can remove the WC, legally a licensed plumber needs to installed the new one. The main comeback here is if in the unlikely even the toilet fails and there is a flood, you won't get insurance cover for any damage.
