Hi, I'll be renovating my laundry room that has an existing toliet that I will be replacing.
I'll be demolishing the old tiles and will be doing waterproofing.
Just wondering at what stage can I install the new toliet? Do I remove and install new toliet then demolish the old tiles in the laundry and work around it.
Or remove toliet then demolish the tiles and do waterproofing then install toliet and then do new tiles?
Hi @sammyla,
Thank you for your question about when to remove your toilet during laundry renovations.
You should always remove the old toilet before starting demolition and waterproofing, then install the new toilet after all the tiling is complete. This order prevents damage to the new toilet and ensures that the waterproofing and tiles are continuous underneath and properly sealed around the base. Installing the toilet too early makes it difficult to waterproof and tile neatly, which can lead to leaks or an uneven finish later on.
So, remove the toilet, remove the tiles, fix the waterproofing, reinstall the tiles, then finally reinstall the toilet.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
