The Bunnings Workshop community can help with your home improvement projects.
Many Bunnings stores offer a timber cutting service to help you get your wood home and get started on your project.
Here are some frequently asked questions about our timber cutting service to help Bunnings Workshop members.
What type of cuts can be done at a Bunnings store?
Bunnings stores typically have two types of saws for timber cutting.
What size cuts can be made and how much does it cost?
Cuts to timber and panels boards are rounded up to 100mm increments. We are unable to do precision cuts. The minimum length of cut timber is 600mm.
Customers are required to purchase any remaining offcuts measuring less than 1800mm.
Multiple timber cuts may incur a charge of $1 per cut.
Is this service available at my local Bunnings?
You can check whether the timber cutting service is available at a nearby store by visiting the Bunnings website. Here’s how:
Can I bring my own piece of timber to be cut?
Due to the many variables associated with timber products, we can only cut products purchased from our stores.
When is the best time to visit a store for timber cutting?
Visiting at a quieter time will ensure faster service. It's best to avoid weekends and public holidays as many other D.I.Y. enthusiasts will also be looking to build their own projects.
What if I want to do the cutting at home?
Knowing what saw to use and how to use it is the key to success. Here are some useful guides to get you started:
What if I can't get my timber home?
We offer a number of options to get your products home safely. You can use our free courtesy trailer for up to two hours. If you need more time you can also hire a trailer, a ute or a van to suit your needs. We also offer a comprehensive delivery service to assist you in getting your purchases home. Most stores offer same day or next day service. Please contact your nearest store for details.
As always, our helpful members are ready to assist with any questions you have on completing precision cuts for your D.I.Y. projects at home.

Hi, I want to buy some villaboard to make a mosaic on, however only have a smallish car to transport home. Is there any way it can be cut in store to fit into car??
thanks
Hello @purefunk
I'm sorry but villaboard cutting is not a service the store offers. However, you can cut the Villaboard yourself using a James Hardie Villaboard Knife Score and Snap.
Here is a handy step-by-step guide: Hardie™ Knife - Best Practice
Please remember to wear gloves and goggles when cutting the Villaboard.

Hi everyone,
im just seeking advise about cutting this timber panel.
im looking at getting it down to 1800 x 800
could this type of timber panel be cut in the timber cutting service in my local Bunnings?
if yes, should I treat the wood before indoor use?
thanks heaps!

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. it's sensational to have you join us.
I'm sorry the radiata panel can't be cut at the shop saw. However, it is possible for you to cut down the panel using an Ozito 185mm 1300W Corded Circular Saw or an IRWIN Plus 880 Universal Handsaw. It may take longer with a hand saw but you do have the advantage of full control as you cut the panel.
One other option is to engage the services of a handy person to cut the timber panel for you.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Can I have this cut longitudinally to a size?
It is a 1200 x 810mm 3mm Plywood Pine Premium BC Grade (I/N: 0340268) cut to 1200 x 670mm. Can this be done at the Chatswood (or Artarmon) store?
Thank you!

Building a bird aviary for my backyard and have a couple 1.8m and 1.5m measurements, i don't want to pay for a full 2.4m if i only need 1.5 or 1.8m
Hello @Xavier178
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us.
I'm sorry but the shop saw doesn't do precision cuts as they are too big and too rough. The timber cuts are made to help with ease of transportation. I understand your desire to economize, but the timber pieces come in pre-cut lengths and can only be purchased as a whole and not to length. However, as an alternative you do have the option of cutting the timber pieces yourself on site with your cordless circular saw or a handsaw, especially if you are after precision cuts. Here is a handy guide - How to choose the right power saw for the job by @Adam_W.
