The Bunnings Workshop community can help with your home improvement projects.
Many Bunnings stores offer a timber cutting service to help you get your wood home and get started on your project.
Here are some frequently asked questions about our timber cutting service to help Bunnings Workshop members.
What type of cuts can be done at a Bunnings store?
Bunnings stores typically have two types of saws for timber cutting.
What size cuts can be made and how much does it cost?
Cuts to timber and panels boards are rounded up to 100mm increments. We are unable to do precision cuts. The minimum length of cut timber is 600mm.
Customers are required to purchase any remaining offcuts measuring less than 1800mm.
Multiple timber cuts may incur a charge of $1 per cut.
Is this service available at my local Bunnings?
You can check whether the timber cutting service is available at a nearby store by visiting the Bunnings website. Here’s how:
Can I bring my own piece of timber to be cut?
Due to the many variables associated with timber products, we can only cut products purchased from our stores.
When is the best time to visit a store for timber cutting?
Visiting at a quieter time will ensure faster service. It's best to avoid weekends and public holidays as many other D.I.Y. enthusiasts will also be looking to build their own projects.
What if I want to do the cutting at home?
Knowing what saw to use and how to use it is the key to success. Here are some useful guides to get you started:
What if I can't get my timber home?
We offer a number of options to get your products home safely. You can use our free courtesy trailer for up to two hours. If you need more time you can also hire a trailer, a ute or a van to suit your needs. We also offer a comprehensive delivery service to assist you in getting your purchases home. Most stores offer same day or next day service. Please contact your nearest store for details.
As always, our helpful members are ready to assist with any questions you have on completing precision cuts for your D.I.Y. projects at home.
Please feel free to let me know if you have further questions about our helpful timber cutting service.

will Bunnings cut 1200 x 396mm 7mm plywood pine premium bc grade in to 700x 1020mm as many pieces as it allows.
Hello @annabelle2801
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us.
I'm sorry but the shop saws don't do precision cutting. However, it is possible for you to cut down the plywood using an Ozito PXC 18V Cordless Circular Saw Kit PCSK-1640 or an IRWIN Plus 880 Universal Handsaw. It may take longer with a hand saw but you do have the full control of the tool as you cut the panel. One other option is to engage the services of a handy person to cut the timber panel for you.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Hello @therealkrug
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us.
I propose going to those stores that have agreed to cut your sleeper. Those that have said no may have had their reasons for doing so. I propose calling ahead to the store you are going to and speaking to the timber saw operator in the timber yard and asking if they can cut your sleeper.
However, there is always the option of cutting it yourself with either a cordless circular saw or hand saw, especially if you are just cutting it down for ease of transport.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
Eric
OK
The answer seems the change at the same store spending on the day, I'll just keep trying.
But really I can't say enough how helpful cutting the sleeper the the right length, if asked I would me happy to pay a few dollars for the non standard cut.
Hello @therealkrug
My only other suggestion is to hire a handy person and take them with you to cut the sleeper for you.
Eric
thanks Eric
We tried another bunning and was told the same, we ended up fitting the 2.4m sleeper in our car(mid SUV). It fit from the boot to the glovebox.
But while I was there another person was putting one in their car boot to the windscreen.
This feels like a accident waiting to happen. I would be nice if cutting was offered.
But thanks for the help, everyone was very polite with me asking so many times and I would like to say thanks again.
Hi @therealkrug,
Thanks for the feedback, I'll be sure to pass it on to our team.
Just so you’re aware for next time, we do offer free trailer hire for transporting bulk materials, and we can also help organise delivery if you're ever having trouble getting your items home safely. Feel free to ask our team in-store and we’ll be happy to assist.

I am looking to purchase 2 x 9mm MDF Panel Standard (2400 x 1200mm) for wainscoting. Is bunnings able to cut the MDF sheet to the following measurements?
Hi @JQT,
I'm so sorry, but unfortunately, this is not possible as your 100mm strips are below the minimum cut requirement of 600mm. They would also be precision cuts.
We can certainly cut the boards in half so you can transport them home, but you'd need to cut them down with a circular saw.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
