How to lift height of cube unit?

hi!

I’m building a mudroom in the garage using flexistorage from Bunnings. The cubes however I thought would be tall enough to go above the power outlets. Unfortunately they are not. How can I build up the cubes to be secure as we are using them as seating?

Re: How to lift height of cube unit?

Hello @kirby_n

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your cube units.

I propose building a rectangular plinth using 90 x 45mm Framing MGP10 Untreated Pine 2.4m or similar. This will raise the cube height by 90mm which in theory should be enough to go past the power points. If not, it will be necessary to increase the height of the plinth by adding more timber. Once the cubes clear the power points, I suggest installing angle brackets like the Carinya 100 x 75mm Zinc Plated Heavy Duty Angle Bracket and anchor the cubes to the wall. Please make sure to attach the cubes to the plinth with screws to prevent it from sliding out.

In regards to the size of the plinth you can build it just 10mm smaller than the size of the cubes, this will mitigate any possibility of the cube toppling over because of the smaller footprint.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
