Some paint absorbed into kitchen benchtop

Hi everyone

It seems some white paint are absorbed into the timber laminated benchtop, as we have done some painting before and put some tray and tin on the benchtop without using some drop sheets

We tried sugar soap but still cant get rid of it.

Any easy-to-use product recommendations? Thank you a lot for any advice.

Re: Some paint absorbed into kitchen benchtop

We looked it up on the internet,

Some suggest rubbing the spot with a cotton ball moistened with bleach ( it sounds too risky, what if bleach can discolor the benchtop? )

And some suggest lemon:

So many solutions suggested and cant get our heads around them ..!

Re: Some paint absorbed into kitchen benchtop

Hello @ivanptr

I suggest trying De-Solv-it 125ml Sticky Spot and Stain Remover. This is a non-corrosive mixture that should be enough to soften the paint. Spray it on the spot and use a clean cloth and rub the stain in a back and forth motion. Several applications may be necessary to remove deep-seated paint stains. Please keep us updated.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Hi @EricL ,

apologies for posting on an old thread. Was searching for solution to a similar situation and thought to ask before I create more dramas. There’s a dark spot on the bench top and tried different cleaning liquids. It’s not going off. Do you recommend to use the same liquid. Attaching the picture.

Re: Some paint absorbed into kitchen benchtop

You could certainly try the De-Solv-it @mk1, but it really depends on what caused this mark as to how well the product will work. If the mark is a buildup on the surface of the bench, the product might help break it down, allowing you to remove it. However, if this is a stain that has penetrated the benchtop, then it would be difficult to remove.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
