Dresser upcycled into bedside drawers

IMG_5809.jpeg

Honouring the past. Designing for now.

This was originally a dresser which I cut in half and made into two bedsides this is the first of two. I’ve had it since childhood handed down to me from my grandmother.  I painted and restained it several years ago. When I moved last year it didn’t fit into my room and I held onto it deciding if I’d sell or not. It still held sentimental value to me. So after seeing several videos on people turning dressers into two bedsides I thought I’d give it a go.
The drawers are original as is the drawer tower. The side shelves were constructed from the original base and the top shelf top was original from the cut middle drawer. I added ply panel to the side to give it a more art deco look along with painted black half circle flutes and also used ply for shelf two and three. I upcycled as much of the old wood as I could.

Materials

Feast Watson jarrah stain, British paints black chalk paint. 4mm marine ply monocel satin top coat, feast Watson wax, half circle wood flutes

Tools

Jigsaw, circular saw,

Thank you I have uploaded original and are now working on bedside two and a total tallboy transformation to match the pair.
