Entertainment unit using Flexi Storage Clever Cubes

Sleek TV and Entertainment unit using Clever Cube shelf.

A matching tv unit to go with our 2 x 2 cube shelf unit for our Living room upgrade. Stylish and functional on a budget! ☺️ We now have a proper place for our game console, controllers and remotes. Plus cube inserts for better storage solution. See before photo below 

 

Materials

Flexi Storage Clever Cube 2x4

Flexi Storage Rattan cube inserts

Flexi Storage H shelf cube insert 

Adoored Vertical leg plate 3/8

Adoored tapered furniture legs 3/8 thread x4

Tools

Screw driver

Angle grinder

Steps

Step 1

Assemble Flexi Storage Clever Cube 2x4 according to instructions but swapping the middle parts to create that wider gap of the tv unit.

 

Step 2

Measure furniture legs and shorten the length of thread using an angle grinder or hand saw. Measure and screw in the Adoored Vertical leg plate on each corner of the cube shelf. 

 

Step 3

Attach the legs.

Step 4

Step 5

Now time to decorate! 😉

Hi, i recently got 2x2 and after assembly i feel it needed some legs. Im so grateful for @Simply_Bea and her tutorial because it gave me the confidence that it's actually feasible! The only differences is i got mine in oak and l chose the angled legs. I do have questions prior to starting--

1. Is the outer top/bottom frame of the 2x2 flexi cube (i/n: 0045680)

made of chipboard as well or is it hollow? (Needed to be sure it could hold the screws from the adoored plates).

2. Adoored legs (i/n:0225657) are raw pine. Which stain and lacquer could you suggest that would closely match the flexi cube's oak finish?

3. Which hand saw could you suggest that would best cut the threads of the adoored legs?

please advise. Thank you!

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

I'm so glad to hear that @Simply_Bea's entertainment unit project inspired you to get stuck into some D.I.Y. of your own.

To answer your questions, yes, the outer frame is made of chipboard and is suitable to accept screws.

I'd suggest this Feast Watson Oak Prooftint Interior Stain would be a close match. If you apply it in thin coats and work up to the colour of your flexi cube, you should be able to get the colour pretty close. After it has dried, you can overcoat it with a clear varnish such as this Feast Watson Clear Satin Varnish.

For cutting the threads, you don't need anything fancy, just a standard hacksaw.
