Good evening.
I would like to add acoustic panelling to wall from top to bottom. And add some various sized shelfs.
My question is, what do you suggest for fitting shelves.
Please see attached pic for my inspiration.
Hi @JodieP,
Thank you for your question about adding some shelves to your acoustic timber panels.
If any considerable weight was being placed on the shelves, I would not suggest just attaching them to the acoustic panels; rather, you would need to drill through them into the wall behind and attach them to the studs or brick behind the panels.
If you were only supporting light weights, then the simplest and easiest way would be to attach some angle brackets to the battens to support the shelves. This would allow you to pick and choose the shelf material to match your acoustic panels or whatever aesthetic you would like to go with. This would not be a completely hidden fixing system like in your inspiration image, but it would be simple and effective.
These Carinya 185 x 44mm Black Floating Shelf Brackets would be a good option that is slimline and will blend in nicely while supporting the shelf. They can support 50kg when spaced no more than 415mm apart.
Another option is the range of Flexi Storage Decorative Floating Shelves, which come with a hidden fastening system that can be seen in the installation guide.
Let me know what you think and if you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
